Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.
Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).
Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.
And NEVER give money to an "agent".
The views and opinions expressed in these comments are strictly those of the comment's author. The contents of these comments have not been reviewed or approved by QueryTracker.net or Patrick McDonald.
It took me some 3-4 hours of research on almost every site I could find to get contact details/information for Duncan McAra.
His actual email address is duncanmcara@mac.com
His requirements are:
Cover letter (brief)
Query Letter
Bio (brief and only mention that which is relevant)
Synopsis 1-2 pages max.
All in the body of the email.
I sent him an EQ yesterday & got a reply a few hours later – therefore I know the email works & he reads them. (fast too)
He was very polite but stated that: “At present my client-author list is fairly full, and I'm concentrating - in the main - on my published authors”
In a nutshell, he isn’t accepting submissions at this stage except if:
The author is from Scotland/Ireland
For Fiction he IS NOT interested in anything on the Science Fiction, high fantasy, horror, poetry, children’s. In reality he is CLOSED to submissions.
My EQ was ER, but at least there is some info for those who fit closer to his criteria.
