Q: 6/9/25 (actually, 3/22/25 -- see narrative) 72k historical fiction
Requested full submission: 6/16/25
Rejected: 11/19/25 "Thanks so much for giving us the chance to consider XXX. We found a lot to like with your writing and compelling premise, but ultimately we didn’t connect with the ending of the novel the way we’d hoped to. So although we appreciate your interest, we are not able to accept your submission at this point."

Glick accepts queries via Submittable, so it's a bit of a mysterious, impersonal process. I originally queried on March 22, and missed a note seven days later my novel was rejected. I wrote a new draft, changing a lot of the novel, and sent an updated email in June, thinking she had not made a decision on my query. This time, I received a request for a full manuscript seven days later. (I only saw the March rejection when I logged into Submittable to send the full manuscript.) I assume she has staff who vets the queries, and maybe it was a different staff member the second time? Whatever, at least she had the full manuscript! Then I didn't hear anything for 150+ days. So I sent a new note via Submittable, along with an updated draft (mainly wording changes). Two days later I get a rejection faulting the ending. (It is bittersweet.) I assume someone dropped the ball and had failed to get back to me. But it felt disjointed -- you don't sense communication with a real person. Glick has a great reputation and she requests almost one out of ten queries, but it seems few get picked up in the end.
